CT Early Childhood Alliance used its first story with CT Public News Service to highlight the Feb. 6 Early Care and Education Summit in Enfield. The event, hosted by state Rep. Karen Jarmoc, the CT Early Childhood Alliance and Enfield KITE, featured Ann Pratt of the Alliance and David Nee of the Graustein Memorial Fund as speakers. The event gave early childhood advocates a chance to pool resources and discuss early care and education.

This is the third letter that ran in the Torrington Register Citizen in two days; following the Dec. 14 press conference in Hartford. All three came from parents at Torrington Child Care Center. The third letter urges lawmakers not to balance the budget on the backs of children and that cuts to these programs not only impact child, but families and the workforce.

Alliance co-chair Merrill Gay was interviewed about one of the potential initiatives of the New Britain Early Childhood Blueprint. The idea is to limit the amount of juice and soda children have access to, helping reduce childhood obesity rates in town.
