CT Mirror reporter Jacqueline Rabe continues to cover the Care4Kids program, following an article she published on April 26, organized by the Alliance. This new article is a roundup of bills that have passed the House and Senate, and she included SB 391, which concerns Care4Kids in that it gives a 30 day notice to providers and parents if there are going to be changes to eligibility requirements, 30 days to process completed applications and changing the redetermination process from every six months to eight months. This article published on May 4, one day before the close of session.
The Bridgeport News published information sent to them from the Alliance on Houstaonic Community College's Early Childhood Lab School celebration of Week of the Young Child. The children flew kites in the courtyard, although Mother Nature didn't muster up very much wind for the event! It ran in their April 29 print edition; was posted to the paper's Web site on May 2.
CT Mirror reporter Jacqueline Rabe followed-up on a story she wrote on April 26 on the Care4Kids program with a story on the House of Representatives voting in favor (137-7) for the Children in the Recession bill, which includes a provision that would require DSS to give 30 days' notice to parents and providers if the Care4Kids program is to have an eligibility or requirement change.
