CT Public News Service featured the Children's Champions event (particularly Legislator of the Year Chris Donovan and Specially Recognized legislators Reps. Cathy Abercrombie, Beth Bye, Karen Jarmoc and Diana Urban) in a radio story that ran on May 26, 2010.

Jonathan Kantrowitz, a political blogger for newspapers in CT like the CT Post, Stamford Advocate, Danbury News-Times and a number of community weeklies, posted the Alliance's announcement that Christopher Donovan was to be named CT Early Childhood Alliance Legislator of the Year on May 26.

CT Early Childhood Allliance submitted a piece about the Week of the Young Child to the Hamden Journal for Hamden SoHa's KidFest events on April 14. The piece ran in the May 7 edition of the paper.

Graustein Memorial Fund spoke with Melinda Tuhus of CT Public News Service to respond to the recently-released NIEER report on state-by-state comparisons when it comes to preschool.

The CT Early Childhood Alliance submitted a photo and write-up to the Wallingford/Cheshire newspaper, the People's Press. The paper comes out monthly, so it ran on May 6.

CT Mirror reporter Jacqueline Rabe continues to cover the Care4Kids program, following an article she published on April 26, organized by the Alliance. This new article is a roundup of bills that have passed the House and Senate, and she included SB 391, which concerns Care4Kids in that it gives a 30 day notice to providers and parents if there are going to be changes to eligibility requirements, 30 days to process completed applications and changing the redetermination process from every six months to eight months. This article published on May 4, one day before the close of session.

The Bridgeport News published information sent to them from the Alliance on Houstaonic Community College's Early Childhood Lab School celebration of Week of the Young Child. The children flew kites in the courtyard, although Mother Nature didn't muster up very much wind for the event! It ran in their April 29 print edition; was posted to the paper's Web site on May 2.

CT Mirror reporter Jacqueline Rabe followed-up on a story she wrote on April 26 on the Care4Kids program with a story on the House of Representatives voting in favor (137-7) for the Children in the Recession bill, which includes a provision that would require DSS to give 30 days' notice to parents and providers if the Care4Kids program is to have an eligibility or requirement change.

ReminderNews in Enfield published a photo and brief write-up of Enfield KITE's Week of the Young Child festivities in the April 27, 2010 edition of the paper.

Reporter Jacqueline Rabe interviewed several Alliance members, including Cyd Oppenheimber of CT Voices for Children and Kathy Queen of the Wallingford Community Day Care Center, for a story on the Care4Kids program and the important role it plays in the lives of working families.
