The Department of Social Services recently announced an extension of Care4Kids (C4K) benefits. Beginning July 1, 2012, already active families may continue to receive child care payments for up to six weeks while a pregnant or post-partum parent is on maternity leave. To take advantage of the maternity leave benefit, active families must contact Care 4 Kids within 10 days of the beginning of their maternity leave.
A notice was sent to 25,000 families and child care providers who participate in the C4K program.
DSS worked with members of the advisory committee, state legislators and child care advocates to develop this policy change. DSS is grateful to its partners at the United Way of Connecticut for their efforts in making this change a reality for Connecticut families.
