Date:December, 2010Abstract:The CT State Board of Education has voted to pass a proposal as part of its legislative package to restrict the age of children entering kindergarten. Children starting school in the fall will have to be five years of age on or before Oct. 1, opposed to the current structure of Jan. 1. Legislators and the new governor want more information and how it would impact low-income families (there is a separate proposal would boost funding for preschool aid for needy families). The proposal would need legislative approval.
