Speaker: Poverty Impacts Brain Development

Date:
August, 2010
Abstract:
Children living in poverty under the age of 10 are more likely to grow up with emotional and social problems, said one speaker at the Communities Collaborative Brain Development Conference in Mahnomen, Michigan.  However, Dr. Cathy Grace, a doctorate in curriculum and instruction in early childhood and special education noted that children who grow up in economically stable homes, but face poverty later as adults, aren’t necessarily affected as much.
