CONNECTICUT EARLY CHILDHOOD ALLIANCE
The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance, a vibrant and growing consortium of early childhood organizations working together to improve public policy for Connecticut's young children and their families, seeks applicants and nominations for the position of Executive Director. The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance has emerged as a strong advocate for the early childhood community and is poised to lead in the early childhood policy arena. The Alliance collects and distributes crucial information on policy matters, and acts to unify this diverse community of providers and advocates on the issues before them, expanding the collective influence and impact of the membership on the lives of children across the state.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Alliance is seeking a seasoned leader, advocate, and consensus builder to serve as Executive Director. This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader with a strong public policy background, the ability to promote unity among a diverse membership, and an understanding of early childhood issues. The Executive Director will manage and oversee the strategic, programmatic and fundraising operations of the Alliance, provide leadership to volunteer members in achieving the Alliance's goals, and work in close partnership with its over 40 member organizations. The Executive Director reports to the co-chairs of the Alliance’s 15-member Steering Committee. In concert with the Steering Committee, the Executive Director will drive the implementation of the Alliance’s recently completed two-year Strategic Plan, which focuses on developing and promoting the Alliance’s public policy goals, expanding membership, raising the visibility of the Alliance, and ensuring fiscal sustainability. The Executive Director will supervise the current staff, which include a full-time Communication Specialist and a part-time Director of Advocacy and Outreach, and any additional staff which may be needed as the organization grows.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have an in-depth working knowledge of the Connecticut legislative and executive branch processes, experience working with policy makers, skills in consensus building, and the acumen and ability to move an advocacy agenda at the state level. S/he will have expertise in building alliances, negotiating, and leveraging key stakeholders for a unified mission. S/he will possess the ability to manage internal administrative issues and the strategic skills to nurture current partnerships while identifying and forging new relationships. The successful candidate will have knowledge of funding streams, the ability to identify and develop new relationships, and the gravitas to develop and nurture current partnerships and key relationships with donors, partners, friends and elected officials.
