Economy Squeezes Early Learning Centers

Detroit early care providers report that as the economy worsens, attendance dwindles. The number of parents seeking no-cost care, such as Head Start or school-based programs, is on the rise. And for children who had been in a program and had to be pulled out because of parental job loss, they may suffer emotional and behavioral problems, said one expert.
