CERC workshop - Touching the Spirit: How Successful Teachers Use Culture in Achieving Educational Excellence for Underperforming African American and Other Students. Augusta Mann, Education Consultant from Phoenix, AZ, will define culturally relevant, culturally centered instruction and give explicit examples of how educators put the philosophy into practice during literacy instruction.

4th Annual Childhood Conversations: Connecting the Data Between School, Family and Community

This event, sponsored by a host of organizations, including the CT After School Network, the town of Windsor, The Alliance for Bloomfield's Children, Conn PAT (Parents as Teachers) and SERC, covers a range of topics, from music in early childhood, the role of fathers in a child's life, resources such as 2-1-1, literacy, childhood fears and the impact oof after school programs on children.
